Can it really do that continuously for one minute to actually be able to unload 1,000,000 rounds? It almost lifted completly off its feet in the fraction of a second it took to fire 180 rounds.

Dew the mathematics... 36 tubes, 1,000,000 rounds one minute..
They actually show up to 180 rounds shot at a rate of 1,000,000 rounds per minute, but with 36 tubes, if you shot 1,000,000 rounds, this would mean each tube would have to shoot 7.716049 round per second...

Minutes to seconds, 60*60= 3600 (cant change that)
    1,000,000 / 3600= 277.7778 shots per 36 tubes per second.
    277.7778 / 36 = 7.716049 shots per tube per second.
The thing actually shot 180 shots.
    So lets redo the math...
Minutes to seconds, 60*60= 3600 (cant change that)
    180/ 36= .05 shot per 36 tubes.
    .05 / 36 = .001389 shot per tube at 180 shots in .25 seconds.
You dont really think 180 rounds went in there and where shot in .25 seconds do you? take 30 people with a rifle, and you cant get them to shoot 6 rounds that fast. Mainly because the barel/ bullet do not cycle that fast. If they did, the new round would be in the chamber before the projectile of the last one actually left the barrel... at 7.716049 round per tube per second, you would have 3 or 4 rounds in the barrel at the same time.
im more inclinde to say there where 36 shots fired when they say 180, even if it where 72, 2 loadings, you would of heard 2 reprecussions at least, they ear can hear more then once per second.

There is no chambering, the bullets are stacked into the barrels in a line and fired electronically.

I've seen this on the Discovery Channel...talk about a neat weapon.

Dan is correct in how the weapon is fired.

    Frenchy,

    Your math is wrong.

A conversion from minutes to seconds uses a multiplier of 60, not 60*60. A conversion from HOURS to seconds uses a multipler of 60*60.

So, let's try this again. Note that units of measurement are in italics.

    1,000,000 rds/min / 60 sec/min = 16667 rds/sec
    16667 rds/sec / 36 = 463 rds/sec per barrel

Given a load of 180 rds, total time to fire all rounds:

    180 rds / 36 barrel = 5 rds/barrel
    5 rds/barrel / 463 rds/sec = 0.0108 sec

Because of the corrected min->sec multiplier, this actually makes the numbers seem even more impossible, as the ROF per barrel is an order of magnitude higher, and the total time to fire 180 an order of magnitude lower.

However, a total fire time of 0.0108 sec (approx a hundredth of a sec) seems consistent with the video, as IMHO the firing of 180 rounds sounds like a single shot.

It does seem amazing that in a continuous fire mode each barrel would be moving 463 rds/sec, but if they're using a non-traditional, non-mechanical method of doing so, then it's entirely possible.

Thanks for the info, Dan. Didn't realize this thing had a name.

    Amazing stuff.

its more like one big giant bullet at 1mil rounds a minute. And yeah it has been shown on the discovery channel, i think under the show called "future weapons"
