Practical training?
I see some topics about the benefits of one handed handun operation as well as where to put your bullets.
Aside from indoor shoot houses that have staged targets that require various different shooting positions, what else is there?
I watched Magpul Dynamics Art of the Tactical Carbine 1 and 2. There are some good techniques.
I'm interested to learn about appropriate cover and to know what I can shoot thru and can't. Shooting at paper targets barely teaches you to think what lies behind your target.
I mean how likely is it that someone one is in my house and I have to defend myself, and I have to shoot them. What will my .45 acp rounds do? More than likely go thru the person and then some?
Other than reading online what other means of hands on experience and training can I get to be aware of my surroundings?
Airsoft can help with force on force in cqb. But bbs don't shoot thru walls like bullets do.

Re: Practical training?
I see you are local to Pittsburgh.
Are you a PMSC member?
Shoot me a PM and we can hit the range sometime.
In the meantime you need to look into getting yourself a good grounding in the fundamentals through an experianced instructor.
I think 9iirc) there is still one spot Left for Giles Stock's class this year, and Randy Cain is coming for Handgun 101.
