PAFOA Back Online After First Major Downtime

I never realized how much I look around on here until it wasn't here to look around on... Wow does that even make sense? I'll pitch in for a mirror server if that would help prevent this from happening again. EDR

I have a few ideas that I'm researching to fix this problem that go in a lot of different directions. Rest assured everyone will be kept in the loop.

Thanks to my dad I learned to save money and while PAFOA ain't rich, we have built up a little nestegg to help us deal with things like "CRAP WE NEED TO BUY NEW SERVERS ASAP" if they come up. With that said, if people do want to either donate, purchase a forum subscription, or advertise with us, we will gratefully accept. Regardless of what we do, the money will go towards continuing the organization one way or another.

I think it's safe to say that whatever the solution is, it's probably going to cost us money through a combination of up front costs and/or increased monthly fees. While we have some leeway in our budget, more leeway is always good.

if i can be of assistance any time just call my land line and ill do what i can ...harddrives cable creating eletrical,any thing ele and computer related in or near mountgomery county ,buckscounty etc.

thanks for getting back up...hint harddrives generally need to be replaced every 2-3 years if there in a 24/7 running server. any drive over 250 gb use the new way of writing data and the crash estimates are still out.

Nice to see the site back up. I put a tone of ot in this weekend so my time was filled else where.

Maybe some one could educate us as to how this hosting thing works. I am familiar with in house networks but I am lacking in this internet hosting area. Can the site be hosted from two or more brick and motor sites? Is this just added expense?

There is a lot of power through organizing around the use of this forum.

While you are the sole proprietor of this site, do we as paid subscribers, have any input?

Are there projects regarding hardware, software, redundancy, etc we could have a fundraiser?

I know the name says association, but, it really is not.

Are there any plans to have organized meetings, organized involvement using the name PAFOA etc.?

I do not know if these questions have been asked. I am a "newbie".

I have done nothing to keep the site up other than donate through paid subscription, and post a lot. I do support what this site does.
