sig p238 jamming
i bought a new sig p238 380. I've shot about 120 rounds threw it. It has had about 6 failure to ejects. The slide will come back to eject the empty case but it does not eject and another round tries to go into the chamber and jams making the magazine hard to remove. The ammo is remington white box from walmart.I have looked at the Extractor and seems fine i'ts not too tight. What could be causing this malfunction. And sorry for the crappy cell phone pics.

Re: sig p238 jamming
I did not have this problem during break in.
try cleaning the gun and going through the rounds again.
At about 180th round I had a jam. The gun was extremely dirty and I switched to aluminum cased rounds.
After I cleaned the gun and went back to brass I did not have problem.
I believe the book says to break in the gun, but doesn't specify a round count.
I read in shooting illustrated they say about 200 rounds and keep the gun clean.
I am in the middle of testing self defense rounds - powerball 70gr and hornady critical defense. I am prob going with powerball because of the issue I have been reading about hornady critical defense rounds.

Re: sig p238 jamming
I'm a little late to the party but did you try calling Sig's customer service to see if they've heard of the problem? I had an issue with my P238 not returning to full battery due to the barrel being very slightly out of spec in terms of thickness. I called up Sig and told them my problem. Since I bought it fairly recently, they sent me a shipping label to return the gun to them. About 2 weeks later I get my gun back in working condition and they gave me a free ramp polishing and an extra free mag for my problems. I call that great customer service.

Re: sig p238 jamming
I'd be willing to bet it is the Ammo.
Is your 380 round a flat tip? As opposed to round ball? I have noticed that even before I shot my p238, that the Winchester 380 auto rounds tend to FTE, or Jam. If your looking for cheap 380. go for Federal American Eagle, or Aguila. Thanks

Re: sig p238 jamming
I would say try different ammo. That bargain stuff is the most reliable. Also I would cycle the slide on the gun by hand at least 100-200 times with the gun empty of course just to get the gun broken in more and the spring not so stiff. Do that then strip it down clean and re oil then shoot some better ammo and is bet the problem is gone
Edit- wow just realized this thread is from 2010. Seriously jeffmetz? Who does that??? Fail....Last edited by JW1914; April 6th, 2014 at 10:44 AM.
