    Default Bought an XD Today

As some of you know I've been searching low and high for a 9mm pistol. I was set on a Glock 19. Today I went to Gander Mt to look at their used stuff and to ask why their new Glock prices were so high. I never got to ask about the Glocks, because sitting in the used case was a XD9 V10. 4 inch ported barrel and OD green. (Flame suit on...) I know ported barrels are practically useless on 9mm pistols, and I know that they can actually be detrimental in SD situations. I ignored all this because of the price. The gun honestly looked like it had never been used. You could have put it in with the new XDs and no one would have known the difference. I paid less than $360 for it. Actually I was a little short on cash so I just layed it away, but I only owe $68 on it, so later this week that baby is coming home with me.

I've heard all about the problems the V10 series pistols have had with the section of slide inbetween the ports breaking. There are a few reasons this doesn't worry me. First, I know SA would replace the gun if that happened. Also, I'm thinking about putting an aftermarket non-ported barrel in it if I were to carry it. This way I wouldn't have to worry about breakage or getting sprayed with gas and debris out of the ports if I were to fire the gun from a "non-traditional" stance.

All in all I'm very, very happy with the purchase, ports and all. It was definately the price that sold me. If I could have found a very, very, very lightly used G19 for less than $360 I would have gone that route, but the price was just too good to pass up.
Let me know what you guys think. I'll put pics up as soon as I bring it home.

Does anybody have any experience with any of the V10 ported models? I'd like to hear your thoughts.

It signifies that the gun is ported, that is all.

XD is a solid gun, I've owned a few of them now. You made a good choice.

Sounds like a good price, let us know how it shoots.
