    Default Antique Store Find

    So, this past weekend I took my girlfriend to Historica Antiques in downtown Clearfield because we share an interest in interesting antiques specifically old books.

    Now, I enjoy the antique stores, but I never have ever wandered into one expecting to find one of these:

    Now, I'm sorry, this is just too much for me to say no to. Don't care if its basically an over glorified PVC pipe to hang on the wall, that sucker went home with me!

    (On a related note, I dropped my good camera so these will have to do for now)

    You sir are correct! An AT-4, otherwise known as an M136 (with the modifications exhibited by this one)

    Oh! Best part of this story, as I'm walking out of the Antique shop with it slung over my shoulder two Homeland Security Police SUVs drove by with out incident, which makes me ask;

    What IS the purpose of them anyway? Surely if you're looking to protect the Homeland's Security in sometimes questionable manners, the guy carrying a rocket launcher down the street would be at the top of your Look-for List, no?

    That's an older model of an M136, the black bands show that it was used to fire an HE round. It may have been re-used for training purposes as an inert launcher, check and see if there's a weight inside the tube. If it's not, then it's just expended (the tube will be clear). It looks like it's in pretty good shape, see if the pop-up sights are still in place by sliding the covers off (and the sights should just pop up).

    Cool find!

    The Tube's completely clear, and yessir, the sights are intact:

    Yes. White Ford Expedition with a Diagonal Blue Strip with a small silver stripe on the trailing edge of it. DHS and POLICE on the doors, along with a genericy-looking Government seal, They've been showing up in this area more and more lately. Not my picture, but here's the SUVs:

    Very cool, the sights are the first things to go (ie break off) if an expended launcher has been sitting around for a while.
