Default Lets see that Molle Vest/ Gear!

Picked up an Army issue Body Armor vest yesterday. The kevlar is long gone but Im having some steel plates cut and bent. I figure its better than nothing.

Anyway, I had been looking at 5.11 tactical vests but this came along first. Now I have all this Molle webbing and have no idea what types of Molle pouches to buy.

    What do you guys have?
    What workds for you?

    Thanks!

Saved over the 5.11 vest. And it has the inserts for steel or kevlar plates. Cant beat that.

steel plates? not just buy some standard issued plates?

the interceptor vest, is it just outer liner or is the basic "second chance" material still inside?

Steel thick enough to stop anything is going to weigh a friggin ton. Thus the reason modern kevlar was invented.

Depending on how thin you go you could have an extra bad day if it's thin enough the bullet still makes it through. First it's going to spall the plate into you like a second bullet... PLUS the plate is going to make the bullet deform and expand... meaning you're going to end up with a 1/2" sized hole in you even if you take a 9mm to the chest. Minimum...

Whatever you put in there make sure it will stop pistol rounds. Like stop without spalling.

Or you're going to have a super bad day if you ever end up getting shot in it.

I second the option of buying drop in ceramic SAPI plates.

If the plate is angled and the spalling doesn't hurt you a round deflected down into your pelvis or thighs will take you out of the fight. Ceramic breaks and captures the bullet and the kevlar sheeting on the back of the plate keeps it intact.

Issued to me, now it just takes up space....

Mind if I ask why you have a vest like that?

Picked it up from a buddy for cheap. I was looking at Molle systems but they were all around $80 for the mil spec vests alone. So when he offered me this I picked it up.
