    Default SBR Tommy gun

I recently bought a Kahr 1927A-1 tommy gun and have been kicking around the idea of putting the 10.5 in. barrel on it. Has anybody here done this before or know of a good gunsmith that knows how too? By the way, ive been reading all the problems about the Kahr Thompson Guns, but mine runs like a champ! Maby they worked out some of the bugs or I just got luckey.

GO ask on Uzitalk theres guys who Specialize in this.

    I went the Easy route.

    Thompson Pistol...10.5" barrel already there.

Just need the lower receiver tapped for Buttstock screws, gotta send Just that out for the work VS the actual receiver.

this is a job only competent thompsonsmiths can handle.
    there are two big ones.
one in new york and the other in colorado.
    tommygunner.com is ny
PK on the machinebooks forum, is other, he does not have a website.

do not let a hack try this job. the receiver will be screwed up if the proper fixtures are not used.
it's only metal, we can out think it....

or use a lower from a parts kit, or from a carbine that currently has a lower from a parts kit on it..........

    no can do.

These semis were intentionally made so an original lower wont fit.

    yes can do.
while it will not fit right out of the box, it does not take much for it fit though.
there are quite a few parts from a kit that can be used.

jb arms of upper darby did mine. he engraved it under the front grip so you don't see anything unless you remove the grip.
i had trouble with the compensator though, he had to mill a few thousands off the crown so the comp would align properly (not pinned), everything worked out great..

(edit) the engraving was done under the upper.

I bought a M1 Tommy a year ago with the intention of SBRing it. I would have bought a factory unit but they charge $600 extra and around a six to twelve month wait.

So I sent in the Form 1 last spring and received it back last August. Also I made the tools to remove the barrel without any damage to the receiver and they worked great.

Instead of replacing the original (new) barrel with a new short barrel, I cut and crowned the original barrel and made a bushing for the front ring sight and it came out great. Due to the original 16" barrel having a different contour it now looks like a heavy barrel M1 Tommy.

The whole deal was reasonable, M1 semi $1000, $20 brownells crowning bit, $200 tax stamp.
