Re: AK Mags?
OK guys I got the AK and the mags and 3 0f the 5 steel one are dented and not usable. The dents are small but make the follower get stuck in the mag is there a way to straighten them out or should I just get them replaced from J&G?

Re: AK Mags?
Is your 74 a 556 or 545? I don't believe the Bulgarian's made steel mags for a 74. The Polish & Romanians made steel 545 mags (for the Tantal and SAR/CUR). I own 30 or so surplus polymer545 mags (Russian Izzy & Tula, Bulgarian circle 10/21/25, EG Bakelite) and have not had (nor have I ever heard of)any issues with them.
Prices have come down quite a bit (from $20+) on the circle 10's. check out:

Regarding 7.62 mags, any Com-bloc steel mags are GTG. I would stay away from the Korean new production steel, Bulgarian "bullet" mags, and any US made mags. I hear mixed reviews on the Tapco poly mags. US Palm has also recently introduced a US made poly mag however I do not know anyone that has used one yet.
I prefer the Arsenal circle 10 poly "waffle" mags (though they sometimes will need to be filed a bit to fit some rifles), Chinese (no rib) surplus steel, Yugo bolt hold open steel, and the Hungarian 20 rounders (convenient if you are shooting prone or from a bench).

Bulgarians are a great value, but the new ones are packed in oil and need a good cleaning:

Re: AK Mags?
Like the others said, strip them and use whatever you can to remove the dents, try a sized down block of wood inserted through the mag bottom and a lightweight hammer on the outside.
Second, I suggest finding other places to deal with than J&G, just my opinion. Shotgun news advertisers are usually top dollar sellers combined with turd for brain employees in the ordering and service depts, again IMO.
Try,
AIM Surplus
Centerfire Systems
CDNN
APEX
Military Gun Supply
Palmetto State Armory
Copes
DSG Arms
I have bought from them all and have had no problems with any of them. Some items might be a bit high at one place, so shop around.
Centerfire usually has some fairly decent deals on ammo if you don't have a local source.
