    Talking !PROTOTYPE! tactical dog harness......

The combination of me being bored and hanging out with my dog, brought me to design what you see here. Its made entirely out of an original USGI molle vest (the crappy old ones that were half mesh). My boys name is "Trigger" (how appropriate I know) And hes a three year old shar-pei. Id say a medium sized dog at around 40lbs. Hes been wearing it on and off for a few days now. doesn't bother him a bit. Im going to put a canteen pouch on one side and a SAW pouch on the other to carry his food when we go hiking. Questions? Comments? Suggestions? Im all ears. Thanks. -Eric-

While that's certainly awesome, make sure you know what you are doing.
You can seriously cause harm to your dog's back and legs, if it is not already trained, and used to being a work dog.

Don't take my word for it, I read it on a survival forum. Its worth looking into it though.

Not to shabby. We have back packs that we put on the dogs when we go to the flea market.

Too cool. I'd add a surefire. And a little barrel of brandy or rum around his neck.

Aww! Ya beat me to it.

I was gonna say that all the St. Bernards w/ the barrel around their necks were all jealous.

Good idea for the OP. We, like normanvin, used to use saddle bags on our old cattle dog when we went hiking. We'd pack a little water and snacks for her but, she had to hump the load.

OOH... put a head lamp on the front of him. Like the Molle part where his chest is. If you remove the head band from the head light, most have like two loops for the strap to go through that I'm sure you could use to attach it to the molle vest. Then he'd be even more useful.

Just make sure whatever you put on him it's not a ton and that it's distributed evenly. They make LBE for dogs, so I would just reference those to make sure the way they distribute the load is what you are doing with that vest. That way you don't do any inadvertant damage unknowingly.

The type we use is similar to the one in this pic. Aa you can see there is a spreader pice that spreads the load over the dogs back.

Looks like there is room for a 1911 and a couple of mag pouches. He would then be open carrying.
I always stressed to my son"one shot one kill that was all that is needed". When He came home from Marine Corp Boot camp He was telling me about the Marines stressing "ONE SHOT ONE KILL" He looks at me and the light bulb went on Dad was now a whole lot smarter than he was 13 weeks ago.
