    Default By Popular Demand - 10 yards - 6 shots - By June 6 2010

Here’s the competition based on the most popular choices from the “What Distance?” and “What Target?” polls. Hope that adds up to some enjoyable shooting!

Weapon: Any handgun, any caliber. Two classes: Iron Sights and Scopes / Lasers / etc.
    Distance: 10 yards (or so)
    Shots: 6 rounds
    Stance: Standing, offhand
Target: Attached. When you print it, use "Page Scaling: None". Some of the verbiage at the top of the page will get cut off but that's okay.

    Scoring
Inside the silhouette is 5 points.
Dark grey (outer) ring: 7 points
    Medium grey ring: 8 points
    Light grey ring: 9 points
    White (inner) ring: 10 points
Black dot at the center is the X ring and will be used for tie breakers.

So the highest possible score will be 60 – 6X

Shoot as many targets as you like and post your best. When you post give us all the details: Weapon used, sights, ammo, indoors or outdoors, and how many targets you shot, and whatever other details you’d like to share.

Prizes: We don’t need no stinkin’ prizes!

Deadline: June 6th. That should allow plenty of time to get out and shoot.

    Current Standings
    Iron Sights
    1st : King 5.45 : 56 - 1X
    2nd : tlgpa : 53 - 1X
    3rd : 3rdChance : 49 - 2X
    4th : jtsgsxr6 : 35

    Scoped, etc.
    1st : Brick : 59 - 4X

Here's my submittal. High score of 53.

    Walther SP22, .22LR, open sights, 3 targets.
    Scores: 53, 52, 48
I blew the 2nd target (52). Pulled one of the shots, otherwise it would've been a 56.

    Taurus 25/7, 9mm, open sights, 2 targets.
    Scores: 51 & 51

That is a heartbreaker. Looks to me like your third target should be scored as a 50, that one shot you scored as a 5 looks like it broke the 7 ring. But that doesn't affect the standings. Thanks for starting this off!

Here's my entry. A 49 - 2X. Using my Ruger Single Six, 5 1/2" barrel, with Winchester "333" bulk pack. I can hit the bullseye, just not consistently. This was my first of three attempts. The second attempt wasn't too bad, but the third was downright embarrassing. I hope to try again later this month.

    Shot with this:

Details: indoors range, with the air return system swinging the target like it was on a seesaw, LH 2H Iso., and only these two targets for the pistol.

King 5.45, that is some impressive shooting with an impressive handgun. I hope you will be entering tlgpa's 3 X 3 challenge as well. I'd like to see your five yard group!

Thanks. I've been at it for a while, and a good piece of equipment always helps. In case you were wondering, I print the targets out on 67# vellum card stock. Semi-wadcutters do a polite number on it that's easy to score. Hell, even FMJ makes a fairly neat hole through it without a lot of irritating rips.
