Hey, at least you posted! I appreciate that! I imagine there may be a few who gave it a try but didn't post when their results were not as good as they had hoped. (I've been guilty of that as well.)

    9. a. Paper targets only at 25, 50, 100 and separate 200 yard ranges.

    b. No shooting at cans or glass targets.

    c. No human silhouette targets.

    d. Remove all targets when finished shooting.

Actually to me this target looks more like the outline of a bottle with a bullseye printed on it than a silhouette, but I understand that some ranges might be more sensitive about that kind of thing.

I enjoy these little comps. So I like to keep em going even if my shooting isn't very good. The odd thing is at ten yards I am most accurace with my compact 380, don't know why, but I've only got enough ammo to keep two mags and the pipe filled. It's so hard to find good .380 or reloading supplies that I'm not shooting it.

Thanks Brick! I'll have to get my post count up so I can spread some of that around!

    Those poor bottles .

Seriously, what's wrong with a silhouette? I'm lost on that one.

A few years ago I went to a SIGForum shoot, to which a few Mennonite folks had gone as well. I don't know if it's a general prohibition among them, or among other Anabaptists, but they were discomfited by the presence of silhouette targets.

Over the years there has been a few PC "objections" to silhouette targets that have taken root. Most are based on the idea that you're teaching someone to shoot people! And if it just happens to be a black silhouette target you're teaching someone to shoot black people!

That's part of the reason behind the FBI "coke bottle" target devised a few years ago. It's also part of the reason why IPSC and IDPA targets are tan, instead of green or camo, they didn't want to be accused of training people to shoot at soldiers.

The really odd thing though is that the original silhouette targets (used for police training (dating from the 1930s) were likenesses of John Dillinger. Go figure!

For all of you seeking a less controversial target:

At the worst, one could be accused of shooting the shit, no more.

And those FBI targets? Not threatening anyone in particular? Please ...
