    My 2 guesses:
One that can be worn in a formal setting.
Or one that will hold up in court because it's tried and true and can't be construed as an "dangerous, non external safety, xray-proof, automatic assault pistol"?
Ha, either way I like both of your definitions.

One thing thats a must on a 45ACP 1911 for me is a full steel frame. The aluminum is going to handle very differnetly than what your expecting if you have shot other 1911's.
I didnt even know they made a loaded with a lightweight frame. I thought that had another designation

FWIW I took a friend to ACE in Washington county a few months back and helped him pick out a loaded in SS and IIRC he paid around $750 NIB.

    $900 is way high.

i looked around and found the gun to average around 792.00 to 862.00 brand new. 900 is way to much. tell him to keep his holster and ammo and shoot you a price. I have a loaded springfield champiom and love it. I never shot a aluminum frame model. But am very sure they put in a stronger guide spring in those models to make up the differnce in weight.

this model is out of stock everywhere i checked. i would said 700 or 650 would be a fair price used. How many rounds shot thru it???

First, thanks for all the replies. I also got a PM from an experienced 1911 owner that echoes what you have said here.

    1) I was concerned about aluminum, and comments on other forums match your concerns.
    2) I agree with everyone about the price. He claims a round count of 200, and his pics are very hi-def, this thing is perfect. I'm still leary of a cross-country purchase though.

I guess what I want is a "court" gun or "BBQ" gun, 1911, steel frame. I'm betting SA is the only thing in my price range. I'm getting a little tired of looking at my SA XD45, and I'm pretty sold on the 1911 platform. Shot 2 different SA 1911s belonging to computer steve, thought they were very nice. Had an itch to acquire one ever since.

That model is pretty sweet but I too wonder how the frame will hold up. 1911`s should really be single action, single stack and steel and 5". That`s missing 25%.
Still a looker though and I do trust SA 1911`s.

Agreed. I guess after owning and shooting a polymer gun, I'm looking forward to the balance of a steel frame machine. The ounces saved through the use of aluminum doesn't interest me at all.

[QUOTE=YBNORMAL;1184263]Are you sure you will be able to fight off the envious onlookers? SA is a good company, I say go for the 1911 and don't look back. A 1911 is my next purchase btw.

Have you ever heard the term "court gun"[/Q

It's a Springfield Loaded Model #PX9104LP, and we're still haggling over price.

Can I get any opinions on this piece as a target and carry pistol?

They guy wants $900 for it and various things I don;t really need, like a IWB holster and some ammo, so I'm still waiting to see what his rock-bottom price is for the gun and magazines alone.

Here is a quick link to some of the specs for this one...

The one he has is identical to the one is this expired ad.

For what it's worth, I would be "trading up" from a SA XD45. I do not compete, I just want it for carry and paper punching.

    What are your thoughts?

Great pistol for the money & feature's but I paid $850 OTD New
