    Default Central PA training classes

Anyone who is associated with a range in the Harrisburg, PA area, please hold a NRA basic pistol training course!

I want to take one of these courses but don't want to drive to Philly or Pittsburgh to do it.

Harrisburg Hunters and Angler's regularly offers the NRA basic handgun safey course for only $10 if that is the one you are refering to.

HH&A and West Shore Sportsmans Club also offer various courses from outside trainers that cover more advanced instruction. Most of these seem to range from $300-$800 for 2-4 days.

Some of the trainers that have been or will be at these clubs in 2010 are:

    Rangemaster
    Larry Vickers
    Masaad Ayoob

Yeah, I just want to go to the basic course. I mainly want to go because I want to make sure I am doing everything properly. I have a feeling grip and stance are 2 areas I need help on though. I also have seen that you must go through this course to take some more advanced courses too.

Classes are held Mondays and Fridays from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM? I work 2nd shift...

You don't actually need a course then, you need an hour or two on the range with a certified instructor who knows how to diagnose shooter's problems and make corrections. I do it all the time. Look for someone in your area who can offer you one-on-one training.

Steve Silverman of Firearms Research and Instruction is in our area.

His site does not have a current calandar, but if you contact him he may offer one on one, or have an upcoming class that may be work for you.

He is a member at West Shore Sportsmans Assoc. in Lewisberry, but I have not run into him in a couple months. I was going to ask him what he might be offering this summer as well.

I have no personal experiance with any of his classes, but I have heard other club members recomend him.
