Russian Makarov
Ok went to the local gun shop today and in the used case was a Russian Makarov so I decided to take a look at it. The blueing was in great shape and so was the barrel, decocker worked the pistol was in really good condition. The price was $244.00 dollars so I put it on layaway the only question is if I needed to get parts for this pistol are they hard to get? Was this a good purchase ?

Re: Russian Makarov
double stack or single stack mag?
adjustable rear sight?
i'm betting its an ij-70ish....a commercial gun produced for export. pretty new guns, imported during the '90s.....there won't be anymore coming in any time soon.
parts can be found, though depending what some digging maybe in order.
however they are good pieces that do not often require work or replacement parts.it's only metal, we can out think it....

Re: Russian Makarov
Why all the great deals/guns always turn up out west? Man i would love to add one of those to my East European collection. Great Guns , i'm glad you scooped it up, some idiot probably traded it in on a Lorcin or Keltec.
There is a lot of Makarov clubs on the internet they will lead you in the right direction, www.makarov.com is out of business , they carried a lot of Parts and accecccories.
If it has an adjustable sight its a commercial import , but what the heck its a great buy/gun.

Re: Russian Makarov
Depending on the model, it may be the later IJ-70 commercial import version. That's not necessarily a bad thing. As long as it's chambered for 9x18 makarov and not .380, I'd say you found a winner. The ones chambered for .380 will be harder to locate parts for. This is also assuming it is the standard 8 round single stack magazine as well.
If you look on Gunbroker you can still find Makarov spare parts kits. The parts for the Bulgarian, East German, and Russian Makarovs are all interchangeable. You may not easily find Russian parts, but the Bulgarian ones will work just fine.

actually any mak at that price point is gonna be a winner. you could sell it for more than you paid online at any time.

Re: Russian Makarov
I have one just like it. I think it's great. It has never jammed even with hollow points and at 7 yards it keeps them all in the 10 ring. You got a great gun.

Re: Russian Makarov
i never have that luck, nobody ever has anything when i go to a shop.
anyways, ive had mine for years and never had any issues with them, but e-gun parts, sarco, usaully carries parts. what toy store do you go too? just a township would do fine, if ya don't want too advertise them. i think thats a good price in todays market.
