Default Carrying on the Delaware River?

Once I finally make the jump from New Jersey to Pennsylvania one thing won't change-my love of boating on the Delaware. Right now I usually go with a buddy who keeps his boat at the Bordentown Yacht Club where Crosswicks Creek empties into the Delaware. We fish, hang out on the sandbar near the I-295 bridge, cook out, etc... How does the law work in terms of the border between the states? I guess technically the NJ/PA border is the middle of the river, but without a surveying team that's pretty difficult to define. Where we usually anchor the boats and hang out (the sandbar) is sort of in the middle, but probably closer to the Jersey side. Anyone have any experience with carrying while boating on the Delaware?

I would not advise having a gun on you on the delaware.

Both PA and NJ's Fish Commission WCO's patrol the Delaware including the islands. The only advice I can give you is make darn sure you don't stray across into "enemy" territory. Watch out for pirates, some of them wear uniforms and come from Jersey...

This came up on Huntingpa.com, waterfowl hunters were advised to have a non res NJ hunting license along w/ their PA hunting license to cover themselves. People reported having problems being over the NJ boundary while duck hunting. Remember NJ regulates ownership of longarms...IANAL but I wouldn't be caught on the NJ side of the river w/ a hangun ! ! !

A LTCF is just as valid one inch from the N.J. state line in the middle of the river, as it is in Williamsport. Do some serious research into the state line is, don't cross it, and you should be fine.

Delaware owns the Delaware River up to the high tide mark on the Jersey Shore.

Really? So if I'm in Matamoras, Pike County., looking across the river at at N.Y. and N.J., over a hundred miles from Delaware and step into the river, I'm then in Delaware - fascinating!

Of course your claim is false. Along a portion of the river, Delaware has it to the high tide mark on the Jersey side. Along other portions, the boundary line is the middle of the river, along other portions the line is closer to one side than the other. If you want to be legal and carry on the river, you need to know where you are and who claims that portion of the river.

The Delaware River is Patrolled by the Marine Police a division of the NJ State Police.

They have an office right behind the Water Department in Burlington, NJ.

I rather enjoy your question here.

With fishing you are not in NJ until you set foot on NJ ground.

I am not a lawyer but I understood the river was patrolled by both PA and NJ and it is an over lap of jurisdiction where the state provide permission to each other.
