    Default Monroe county LTCF

Dropped off my application on 3-12-10, called the sheriffs office on
Monday and was told they are "working on it now" and that I should
    hear something this week.
Does that seem about average to everyone?

    Thanks
    Chris

Still have a week or so left until the 45 day limit comes into play. I handed mine in the day after my 21st (Novemeber 20th) and got it back December 23. I would give it another week from today.

    yup, 40+ days is average
The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.

Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

42 days for me, 43 for my neighbor. We handed them in together.

    Not if you open carry

CC'ing a full size gun, assuming your XD 40 is either the service model, or tactical, is really not that hard. You just need a quality holster/gun belt which shouldn't cost you more than $125. IWB holsters and a t-shirt over top make for an easily concealed firearm.

Swamped? Almost every county in the state issues LTCF's on the spot. Walk in and out in 5-10 minutes. It has nothing to do with being swamped, our sheriff just likes to give people a hard time.

I recently bought a really nice don Hume OWB holster and
galco gunbelt, holds the xd high and tight on my hip,
it also has s slight forward cant so the bbl doesn't stick out
of bottom of whatever I wear as an overshirt.
I should be fine CC'ing the xd but this gives me an excuse
to head over to American sport shooting and buy another gun.
Stopping by the sheriffs office on my way home this afternoon
to pick up my LTCF so today will be my first time CC'ing,
I'll post later after I pop the cherry
