Ashtabula County (OH): Judge tells residents to "Arm themselves"
JEFFERSON -- In the ongoing financial crisis in Ashtabula County, the Sheriff's Department has been cut from 112 to 49 deputies. With deputies assigned to transport prisoners, serve warrants and other duties, only one patrol car is assigned to patrol the entire county of 720 square miles.
*
Ashtabula County Common Pleas Judge Alfred Mackey was asked what residents should do to protect themselves and their families with the severe cutback in law enforcement.
"Arm themselves," the judge said. "Be very careful, be vigilant, get in touch with your neighbors, because we're going to have to look after each other."

Atleast he does not have his head up his ass. What the government gives it can take away, including police. I think those that have had a self reliance mentality will be alright but those who have been sucking at the gov.'s teet are in for a rude awakening soon.

Hopefully he will be so insightful in defending them after they use them. Still it is good that he understands and vocalizes a concern.

Those people are all alone, hope they look in to some form of self defense. I suspect it's country and most probably already have some firearms. But it's a good time to buy more.

Re: Ashtabula County (OH): Judge tells residents to "Arm themselves"
That judge is going to get in trouble. The cutbacks in police were intended as blackmail, to terrify the populace into begging for more taxes. Giving people good advice that, if followed, will make them realize they don't need big brother after all, is certainly counter-productive to that.

Sad thing about that is I don't want to believe it, but I know your probably right....like 99.99% probably.
I feel all our public servants (judges, DAs, LEO admins., elected officals, ect) should be giving this message. If their true intent is to serve & protect and do what is best for the people then it's prudent to advise people to take some of that responsibility on for themselves as no organization of any sort will be there when shtf. My own thinking tells me I'd be a fool to think that help is close enough to solve my problem. The police, with all good intent, will be there in time to pick up your pieces. When the SHTF......be the fan.
