Default Do you remember this handgun?

The firearm I am interested in knowing about is a Ruger .44 Magnum. It is stainless steel with a longer barrel...I am not sure, maybe 7.5, but perhaps longer. I think it was a Blackhawk.

This firearm was sold as a package deal, including: a red dot scope, leather shoulder holster, and I think a case.

The package was a special order and I think it was available sometime during the 1980s. I think the adds for it may have appeared in the NRA magazine.

A friend of mine, now deceased, had such a firearm. He had been living out of state. I would be interested in any details that someone might know about this particular "package deal".

Maybe one of you own one, or perhaps you can recall the advertisement for it. I would really like to see a scan of the add if anyone comes across it.

    Thanks,

    Bill

If you don't have any luck with this post, try going here: http://www.rugerforum.com

I'd bet you'd get all the info you want, you'd probably find someone who has one in their collection.

actually posted about one about a month or so ago.

it was the Aimpoint edition. had red medallions on the grips. just saw one in a local shop when i posted. it sold quickly tho.

went over to one of the Ruger forums, no one had heard of one.

this one was a redhawk, stainless, 7.5 inch barrel

same one you are thinking about?

Hi: I think it had an Aimpoint...but I recall it as a single action, I think a Blackhawk.

    Thanks

It was a Ruger Super Blackhawk. It came in 44 magnum and 44 special. I had one in 1994. Thing was a huge monster. You put 50 rounds through it and you couldnt move your hand the next day.

That sounds like the one. I am going to try to acquire it from the estate. It is in Maine and the executor is in Massachusetts. I am not sure how that will work, but I would think I need them to send it to a PA FFL along with a bill of sale.

    thanks rp

If you get it, the executor (or their representative) will need to know to what PA FFL you want it sent. You coordinate with your FFL and then you do the paperwork just like any other handgun transfer done in PA.
