Default Corbett and the Pennsylvania State Police Database

There are only 2 people in Pennsylvania that can put a stop to the State Police using the Firearms Sales database as a registry and do you know who they are? One is the Governor and the other is the Attorney General! What do both have in common? Tom (I want to be the Governor) Corbett. Guess what practice has not been stopped?? And Corbett wants us to promote him to governor with the promise he'll put an end to it.

    I'm calling B.S. on Corbett

If he is/was able to stop it, it should be done now. There's no reason that it has to wait until election on a possibly false promise. I would think he would get much more support for his current and former actions than any promises that we all know are BS coming from any politician.

He would have to sue and the governor would, at a minimum, file an amicus brief in support of the State Police. More taxpayers would throw a shit fit about one government office suing another government office than would support Corbett. Sometimes you need to know when to fold 'em. If Corbett ends up as the R. candidate and wins the election it is a simple matter of ordering the State Police to drop the policy immediately.

Problem with that theory is that if he becomes Governor, that status-quo policy is now to an advantage to him and his agents (i.e. the PSP) in the execution of their duties. An unfair and illegal one to be sure, but an advantage nonetheless. As such, that advantage will make him less likely to use his authority to drop the policy.

    This. ^^^

Corbett has power currently to potentially influence this but it requires money and time to do so.

If elected Governor, he can accomplish it by simply saying so. Costs much less, takes less time, fewer resources, etc. Much smarter way to go.

While what you say is true CR, Corbett has already stated quite publicly that he will force the State Police to stop retaining the data. So do we condemn him for what he may do as you suggest or do we give him enough rope to hang himself by forcing him to comply with what he said he would do? Considering that only one of his Republican opponents has stated that he would also tell the State Police to stop retaining the data do we say that Corbett is someone we can't trust but the other is someone we can? In my estimation both of the candidates in question have proven to be friends to gun owners.

i say support whoever you want in the primary.

in the general election, though, unless you want to vote 3rd party (which, imho, is generally a good idea), please vote for corbett rather than onorato (aka "dan the tax man", aka "dan the gun grabber man" ).

This is off the Atorney Generals Web site.
As Pennsylvania's top law enforcement officer, Attorney General Tom Corbett works to attack drug trafficking, Internet predators, gun violence, public corruption and other criminal activity; making our state a safer place to live, work and raise a family. The Attorney General's Office protects children from Internet predators, pursues con artists who target our seniors, targets drug trafficking and gun violence in our neighborhoods and fights fraud and scams that can be financially devastating to families.
Corbett also has the power to prosecute Boroughs, Townships, Counties and Cities for preemption violations and where has he been with that? He is also supposed to make sure that Sheriff departments follow the same licensing procedure across the state. Hey you Philly guys how’s that working for you???

If you vote 3rd party, Onorato will win.

It's unfair, it doesn't feel right for it to be so, but that's the truth. That's the reality of a first past post system.
