Default Custom Springfield XDm "3.8 Minus"

    From this thread at XDTalk:

Grip and magazines shortened to hold 16+1 of 9mm by Canyon Creek Custom

Springfield Armory, are you listening? If you make this a factory pistol, I'll buy it instead of my next Glock 19. As soon as I heard about the XDm 3.8, I wondered WTF they were thinking in keeping the full-length grip. This would be the PERFECT concealed carry pistol.

That's actually the best looking XDm I've seen. I still prefer the Glock, but that's a step in the right direction. It's a shame it wasn't done like that from the factory. I've always personally hated the looks of the XDm's grip, but this one is different.

That is awesome. I don't know what springfield was thinking by keeping the full size grip. Apparently, they weren't thinking.

I'd be happy if they were able to get the boreline down a little.

The XD grip fits me somewhat better, but the glock shoots better for me at the moment.

I like both, just mash them together and I'd be happy.

They also modified a grip extension to allow the pistol to use full-size 19-round magazines. More pictures:

I love me some Glock 19, but there are a couple features of the XDm I like:

    • 1 additional round over the G19 (in this custom pistol, anyway)
    • grip safety
    • field stripping doesn't require pulling the trigger
    • interchangeable backstraps (on this pistol, the backstrap is epoxied in due to the grip chop, but they could be made interchangeable. Everyone's assuming that the 4th Gen G19 will have interchangeable backstraps too, if/when it's released)
    • ambidextrous magazine release (again, we're assuming the 4th Gen G19 will have this feature also)

This would be a big winner for Springfield. Like the standard XD, it could also be made in both compact (like this pistol) and "compact tactical" (shortened grip/magazine, full-length barrel) versions.

In a pistol that's approximately the same size? Yes. That 16th round may be the one you need.
