Residency Change Question NY -> PA
My situation:
So I'm currently a NY state resident about to change to Philadelphia, PA.
I currently have NY LTCF, PA LTCF and FL CCW permits.
Once I change my residency to PA, my NY permit will become invalid (no-nonresident permits). I will immediately apply for a new permit in Philly, but assume they will take the full 45 days they are allowed to issue it.
My questions:
Am I still allowed to carry until the new PA permit is issued? (My current PA non-resident LTCF was obtained on the basis of possessing the NY license which will now be invalid.)
Even if my PA LTCF is decided to be invalid, is my FL permit enough? (Does PA honor reciprocity for a PA resident?)
Do I need to do anything / notify anyone for my FL permit about my change of address / residency? (address/state of residency not listed on my FL CCW)
I've looked through the applicable PA codes and don't see anything forbidding my carry or rescinding my PA license due to residency change (it doesn't state non-resident on my PA license).
Thanks for any help you can give me, I love this site and lurk a lot more than contribute though I know I should contribute more.

Re: Residency Change Question NY -> PA
Your Pennsylvania LTCF is good until it expires, so says the law. It may have indeed been obtained originally based on your New York State Pistol Permit, but the mere fact that you're relocating from New York to Pennsylvania is immaterial.
You have fifteen days to get your driver's license changed over (and trust me, an out-of-state transfer doesn't take all that long), but your LTCF is good, kosher, up-to-snuff, etc., etc.
If you've studied the law concerning such, you'll note there's no provision for changing the address on the LTCF, no forms to fill out, nothing. You might want to give the issuing sheriff's office a phone call so that they can update your address, but that's up to you.
I'm sure there are plenty of LTCF holders out there with a driver's license giving one address and their LTCF still showing the old address. It's no big deal.Last edited by Statkowski; November 15th, 2012 at 08:10 PM. Reason: Grammar

Thanks Statkowski! I thought I was alright, but living in Philadelphia figured a bit of caution was warranted.
Btw folks, Philadelphia requires fingerprinting for LTCF applicants, mmm... feel right at home like I never left NY haha.

Why would you apply for new PA LTCF? As stated one you have is good til expires.
For FL you can change your address online

NY to Philly? You should feel right at home in a lot of ways.
However, with an LTCF your free to do most anything except carry a loaded long-gun in your vehicle.Iconoclastic Individual Specimen

Re: Residency Change Question NY -> PA
Well, my PA LTCF expires in April '13 anyway, so I figured I would just apply for a new one now. Plus, with Philly PD I'd rather not chance it and end up spending 3 hours in police station while they figure out that it's alright for the address to not be my newest one.

Eveything is easy when you leave NY, i lived between Long Island and NYC for 35 years, dont miss it one bit.
When i moved out here i gave up my NYC "pistol license", i should have kept it for the times when i go back to Fish.

Philly will probably discover you have a valid LTCF and give you grief. They may "revoke" your present license prior to issuing a new one and that may lead to some issues when re-applying for down the road. You just may want the existing one expire.
Look into that.George,
