Friend robbed at gunpoint, east stroudsburg walmart
A few nights ago, at approximately 11:30pm my friend went to walmart in east stroudsburg to grab some dvds. She was bored, not tired, and needed something to do.
Went in, grabbed her DVD's, came out. Walked to her vehicle, unlocked her vehicle, and was in the process of getting inside the drivers seat when she felt a hard object placed against the back of her head.
Man : give me your money now, don't turn around or i will kill you
Her : I don't have any money(she doesn't carry cash)
Man : give me your wallet now or i will kill you
Her : i really don't have any money in my wallet
Man : i don't care, give it to me anyway
she gives the man her wallet
Man : don't turn around for x amount of time, or i will kill you
Her : okay
she waited a while, got in her car, and cried her eyes out. Then walked into walmart seeking aid. manager called 911 and stroud area regional arrived shortly after. They didn't take a report, since "nothing of value" was taken. She had left her ID at home, and had her credit card in her pocket, which she didn't hand over to the robbers. She told SARP there was 2 males. She said they were black, which she was able to pick up from their voices. She wasn't able to get a glimpse of their faces, since they got the drop on her, and then told her if she turned around they would kill her. Apparently SARP told her, since nothing of value was taken, and walmart didn't want/need the bad publicity, no report would be filed.
A few days later, they found her wallet, with some library cards in it, by the train tracks behind walmart. They called her up and she came and retrieved her wallet, and that was the end of it. They had nothing on the robbers, and apparently, they didn't care to find out.
Anyways, figured I would let you folks know there are some assholes out there robbing people at gun point, but thats probably nothing new. After all, this is Monroe county....

Alright that right there just pisses me off. I'm sorry but she should have demanded that a report be filed. So her wallet doesn't have value? I'm pretty damn sure someone paid money for it, so yeah, it has value. The phrase, "terroristic threats" comes to mind too, which is a a first degree misdemeanor. Then there's simple assault, which is a second degree misdemeanor.
So they decide not to write a report, and ignore a first degree misdemeanor, a second degree misdemeanor, and a first degree felony, all because of "bad publicity"?!?!?!

She handled the situation well and thankfully survived the ordeal.

So glad she was not hurt by these shitheads. (The robbers, not the cops)
Kinda strange reaction from the cops.
So, when are you taking her shopping for her handgun and helping her fill out her LTCF app? And of course going to the range with her for some practice

So if she shot this scumbag, would stroud police charge her because nothing of value was being taken.

I'm glad your friend is here to tell her story, but before you go gun shopping I think she needs to work on her SA. Also needs to be taught where and when she can go shopping (sad but true). At that hour believe it or not the Mt. Pocono store is safer. Sure it's a drive, but better spend gas then shed blood.
That store has had a reputation for years. Between the robberies (remember the LTCF carrier that shot back) and the rapes you wouldn't find me anywhere near that store at night let alone at night by myself.

Oh, when she told me I just about lost it. I was fucking pissed and horrified at the same time. Just thinking about what could have happened, and thanking god that it didn't.
Her situational awareness is average, zero. I asked if she had looked around, or noticed anyone in the parking lot, or hanging by her car, she said she didn't even look. I told her as soon as she is ready I'll take her to the gun shop and help her apply for her LTCF. I also told her she did a good job, and sometimes to comply is to live. That even as someone who carries a gun or two every day, every place I go, if someone gets the drop on me, sometimes there you just don't have a choice but to comply. That someone with a gun to the back of your head can pull the trigger quicker than I can get my own gun out. I didn't get into training aspects, and how to overcome that. I just tried to console her and let her know she did a good job.
Oh, and I let my girlfriend do pretty much whatever she wants, because she has common sense and makes good decisions. However, she knows better than to go anywhere near that walmart after dusk. Certain places I deemed off limits for her, unless I, or one of my armed friends is with her. That's just the way it is.

That particular WM just upgraded their entire video system. If she was within 100' of the building, they are on the hard drive....
