    Default Dicks Sporting Goods

Has anyone ever taken a long gun there? I did yesterday and it was a HUGE pain in the ass. I walk in 3 people came over and said I need to go to the counter to check in, no biggie right? Well it was because the manager needed to sign the book and paper saying they know its in the store and she was on break so I had to wait 10 min for her to come back.

Then they lock your gun and they have to carry it, you cant. Was a huge PITA but after leaving and getting to the range i got the gun and was ready to shoot, until I realized they never took the gun lock off . Went back got no apology or anything, very irritating but o well i still got to shoot after driving 20 miles back to the store.

#1 why did you bring the rifle to dicks?
#2 I probably would have left because of the wait and I wouldn't accept some policy that forces someone I don't know to carry my gun around locked or not.

I would not trust anyone at Dick's to determine the integrity of an old gun. I would go to a real gunsmith. The people who work at Dick's are equivilant to those at WalMart. You can't even trust them to give you the right ammo.

which dicks was it? i live by the north hills one and man those guys treat you like shit when you walk in except the older gentelman tim. They never ask if you need help with anything and are not very knowlegeable of there products and where to get products they do not carry. its frustrating everytime i walk in that store.

for the gun check situation thats a pain in the ass.
i work at dunhams across the street. and all we do is have them tell the cashier so we have someone waiting for them back in hunting(although i know alot of guys on here hate dunhams but i do consider our staff much more professional then the guys at dicks)

Pretty much the same procedures as Cabelas.

Yes, it can be time-consuming, especially if they forget to remove the lock.
