They do go after anything. Remember they are pack animals and hunt in packs. They are masters of ambush, thats how they survive. I did some research of their habits and personalities because my folks in CA are infested with them.

And yet the PGC will tell you there not a pack hunter. One class they gave the warden even said "Bears don't kill fawns there vegetarians" at that point I left. I also believe coyotes will take fawns as well. And I've hunted for over 50 years I just want the white one running aroune up here

When something is starving they will eat ANYTHING!
Sometimes these "classes" are just designed to confuse the public and quell the possible panic.
If an animal is starving and comes across your Cocker Spaniel in your yard, well, he's lunch.
Always have that shotgun ready!

He saw the animal and shot at it, but was later attacked.
