Default My dad is applying for his LTCF

He was always for the right to carry, but he used to think it was pointless to carry a gun around everywhere you went. When I started open carrying, again, he didn't understand the mentality behind it story here:

I explained to him the merit behind open carrying... how it shows people that guns are just tools and are nothing to be afraid of. I even linked him to news articles showing how open carrying has deterred potential criminal acts.

I have OC'ed with him dozens of times since then and he has been surprised how no one has said anything about it. Last night at dinner he said he wants to apply for his LTCF. His carry mode of choice is going to be conceal carry but he understands open carry... he just likes the element of surprise .

Now we have to go gun shopping.. he wants a .357 magnum.

It's always a good thing when a person is convinced that lawfully carrying a firearm for self defense is a good idea.

It's even better when that decision isn't made after a violent action or attack.

Always nice to see a parent learn something from their child. Nice work.

Sounds great. What 357 are you going to suggest to him?

Great story man! It's nice to hear something like this.

It's funny, my dad has been going the opposite way with things. He taught me how to shoot, bought me my first gun, and has always owned several. He and my mother became Jehovah's Witnesses several years ago and he has now dwindled his collection down to only his S&W 357 mag revolver (although I can't complain, he gave two to me) for home defense. He doesn't complain that I own a bunch of guns or even that I open carry (even with him), but he definitely doesn't shoot as often, or show the enthusiasm for it, as he used to.
loose≠lose; you're=you are; 'your' shows possession.

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy.
