If 27hand doesn't have the time to build one, I'd be more than happy to contribute money towards getting one or two of those dueling trees!

Does this look like something we could use? ( note the rounds with an attachment hub half way down the site page in the pics section.

I also saw a site somewhere that was selling (Qty 6 ) 8" rounds X 3/8" thick of AR500 for about $160 and am considering replacing my mild steel plates with those.

I would rather bolt the faces of a target face as opposed to welding ( and thereby weakening) them onto my supports.. I don't know bolt grades other than grade 8 are "good ones".

I will more than likely miss the Oct shoot and will do some "gathering" of material for the next few months.

I don't know how a Dueling tree works aside from the plate spinning to the rear.
I guess you could make it so it spins to the other side so the shooter on the other side has to not only shoot his plates to your side but also have to return your plates to your side. Interesting. I'll do some research and I'm guessing with hunting season, holidays, honeydo items and such, I won't get something like that together till the Feb shoot.

I do want to get a 10" or 12' gong for 100yd pistol which I will attach to one of my spring target stands. I suppose if I get it in 1/2" thick AR500, it could be used for rifle also (only for those that can't get a bead on it with their pistol .

Looks a bit labor intensive but I could pick away at it or just spend a weekend and bang it out once I gather stuff.

I may have a line on some scrap AR500 but will have to see whats available and cost. If it costs too much, I'll just order what I want.

Anyone have any armor plate weld rod?

I asked for a quote on a dueling tree. They are about $150 + shipping but the magnum plates are 230 Brinnel hardness which is equivilant to T1 steel and I didn't see pricing difference for AR500 paddles. They list 24 hr response. Let's see what comes of it.

Response I got from dueling tree supplier:

    HELLO HANS,
WE DO SELL A HIGH VELOCITY DUELING TREE, WITH HIGH VELOCITY PADDLES AND THE
MAIN POST IS PROTECTED WITH ARMOR PLATE.($250)
HIGH VELOCITY IS 500 BRINELL STEEL

MAGNUM GRADE STEEL IS REGULAR CONSTRUCTION GRADE PLATE.
EITHER TYPE UNIT WOULD COST $16.40 UPS GROUND TO SHIP
BOTH DESIGNS ARE IN STOCK READY TO SHIP TOMARROW.
    DAVE K

    $ 150 for T1 paddles 230 brinnell hardness
So for an extra $100, you could get a unit that could be used with rifles at 100 yds

The action target model is $395 +S&H but appears to be better constructed
