Considering M&P 9mm
I'm considering buying an S&W M&P 9mm for my first auto. Any input or known problems?

I know several people who own them and love them. Do a search and I'm sure that you'll get a ton of input.

Re: Considering M&P 9mm
I own one and love it!!! Fantastic guns. Reliable, ergonomic, ambidextrous reliable, ascetically pleasing, and reliable.
The only downside I can see is if you have a significant other she's going to want her own
When they first came out one of the downsides was the mags aren't as cheap as brand G (still aren't) but they're getting cheaper. Also one of the problems is it was harder to find sights/holsters but that's changed. 2 group shoots ago there were more M&P's than glocks!! It's a fine gun.

The M&P is a great gun.

Re: Considering M&P 9mm
i have a compact 9 and absolutely love it. i can hit targets at 30 yards off hand no problem. its been 100% flawless after about 1000 rounds. the mags can be a bit difficult to load on the last round and chew up the thumb pretty good. but thats about it.
Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.

I own several Glocks and have considering the XD.....and sort of the M&P
Can't bring myself to buy other brands though when my Glocks are first rate. The hundreds of $$ spent on several other pistols could buy more mags, gear and ammo for the Glocks.
Would love to shoot the XD and M&P though. Haven't had the opportunity yet.Adapt, Adjust and Overcome.

Re: Considering M&P 9mm
I got an M&P9 just after Christmas and have put around 1500 rounds though it with no issues after the first 100. The first night out at the range I put 200 through it to break it in and did have a couple weak ejections, a stovepipe or two, and a couple failures to lock the slide on an empty mag. I think it was more my grip (or lack thereof) that cause this and never showed up with my Glock 27. Since then no issues at all once I adjusted my grip and or it got broken in .
I got the standard FS with night sights. I would like to get the Pro to replace it at some point since I use this primarly as an IDPA style range gun.
Picking up a new M&P40c tonight that just came in as my carry gun to replace the Glock.

Re: Considering M&P 9mm
Have the M&P9c and love it. My son is IDPA champ in 2 states and just switched from Glock to M&P. If you want a really sweet trigger, send it to Dan Burwell or do the trigger job on his web site.

I would say they are all very close in quality. I have never had a failure to feed that was not a magazine issue in any of them.
I shoot the XD best simply because of ergonomics to my hand.
I couldnt rank them they are all such great guns. then again i love diversity.

Re: Considering M&P 9mm
have an M&P in 9mm and love it..don't worry about the gritty trigger and FTE when the gun is new..it's a common problem with new M&Ps, but after you shoot a few hundreds rounds, everything should smooth out and you shouldn't have any FTE.
