    Default $49.99 Mosin Project

Bought a 91/30 Mosin a while back that had been 'worked' on a little bit, the stock had been shaved and barrel cut and recrowned to 20," But hey I only paid $49.99 for it at a local shop. The front sight is a 1903 springfield I think. Have some Okie headspace guages for the caliber and it all checked out good. Placed a ad in the classified section for a M44 / M38 stock and a guy close by had a M38 stock without the bayonet cutout like a M44 stock does in really good shape, hell it's excellent shape for it's age. Got that for $45.00

Today was fitting day.... so I took a before and after picture. Well for a Mosin even with a new stock that still cost below $100.... I'm loving it. Now all I need to do is get my shoulder healed up and head to the range with it.

    The bubbajob made me cry.

Good to see someone attempting to restore some dignity to that Mosin.

Yeah, it does, but still about 1" longer than a true M44 or M38

Your not the only one, I just had rotary cuff surgery 7 weeks ago. Last month I got a mosin 91/30 and an M38 and I'm scared to shoot both of them. My repair is on my non shooting shoulder, I'm still waiting another month or 2 before taking any chances. I even bought a recoil pad, hopefully that will help.
