    Default arisaka 99

Hey, I got a arisaka 99 project today. While cleaning the varnish of the metal, yes the metal, the bolt got stuck. Its stuck at a 45 degree angle and wont come out, or go back down. Is this a odd random issue or common? Anyone have this happen to them?

probably something with the odd cock on closing design, gently fiddling with the safety may help

I ended up getting it out by totally disassembling the rifle. I planned to do so anyway so no biggie. Also parts for these rifles are crazy.

I helped a buddy get his fixed up, he was missing parts. He had a nice 99 with intact chrysanthemum.

I passed on a pretty nice action (no stock or hardware) just barrel, receiver and bolt at the Leesport auction a few years ago and still kick myself.

Here are a few links so you can look up info:

    Manufacturer ID:

Good info tutorial with pictures on bolt and rifle dissassembly:

Parts...Numrich has always been good for me:

E-Bay will probably be your best bet on finding parts.

Good luck and post pics if you can.

I got this one from a local gunshop cheap,89 bucks, the stock was cut and the guy tried to redo the varnish by coating everything to the point you couldn't even read the serial number. However it cleaned up nice with some alcohol. I only got it because the bore was nice and its a early version with the nice end on the bolt and antiaircraft sight. Also, he didn't cut the barrel which would have been a deal breaker for me. Just bought a nice full length original stock today that is being shipped :P
