    Question Western PA Fishing Spots?

Now that its getting warm again, Im looking forward to doing some fishing.

Since Im new to the area can you folks recommend some good spots?
I went over to Montour creek because a lot of people recommended it, but never caught a damn thing.

I was thinking about trying out Moraine State Park. Looks like that would be a good lake to fish at.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

it's a litle bit of a drive, but you can't beat Twin Lakes Park in Westmoreland county.

we are holding an OC/CC/NC Cookout on the 24th of April up there if your interested:

+1 for Twin Lakes. Haven't been there in a few years, but it was/is a damn good time!

Lake Arthur (Moraine State Park) is a very good choice. I paddle there every week and always see lots of fishing boats. They even have pro tournaments on the lake. With that many people fishing, there must be good fishing! I have seen lots of catches also - i would fish as i love casting but dont want to have to take the fish off the hook!

Before this get moved to the lounge section. AS THIS IS A GUN OWNERS WEB SITE

What do type of fish do you want catch is the real question?

also what type of water do you want to fish in?

    lakes

    creeks

    streams

    rivers

what kind of fishing rod do you use along with / bait/ lure are you a sit and wait or go get them fishing style, do you got a boat, do you get boots on and get closer or just fish from shore.

There are lots of places Fish and there are not a lot of places to fish in western PA all depend on what you want to do and what kind of fishing you like and IF you got the equipment and time go get the fish you seek.

Twin lakes does have some good fishing as well, haven't fished in 5 or 6 years, use to fish it regularly in the past.

IF you Come on the 24th bring a map that shows waterways, you can get some scoops on where to fish.

Greensburg isnt a far drive at all!
Im pretty sure I will be able to make it. However, I work Midnight to 8 am, so I will probably be tired and may not stay the whole time. But I will definitely make a good effort. it looks like a good time to be had.

I would think that this section would make more sense than the lounge section.

Also, why not rename this forum to "Hunting & Fishing"? Just a thought.....

As far as what fish I intend to catch. Well, I really like large mouth and smallmouth bass. Trout and pan fish are always fun too.

Moraine has a good Largemouth and Wiper population but is fished pretty hard.

Anywhere on the Allegheny above Pittsburgh with a rocky bottom is decent smallmouth territory.
