    Default NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home

    I will be conducting the NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home course on May 22 and 23 in Hellertown PA.

    Location: Hellertown Sportsmen Association
    1793 Meadows Road

    Cost: $240

    You may also pre-pay the course online.

    This is a 14 hour course that covers both Basic and Advanced skillsets. You will need to provide a servicable carry gun in a defensive caliber as well as a strong side holster that is servicable as well. We will provide the necessary "purse" holsters for use during the range time.

    Hearing and eye protection is required, you will need approxiamately 200-250 rounds of ammunition.

    This course is a required prior to attending the Instructor Training for Personal Protection Outside the Home.

    This is a great class to take even if you've taken other basic defensive pistol classes. If you haven't, that's fine, too. The curriculum is designed around a series of progressions starting from the anatomy of drawing from a holster to firing, reloading, point shooting, cover vs. concealment, shooting from the kneeling position, and other skills. Heck, where else do you get to draw from a handbag? (Talk about a skill I never thought I'd learn!)

    I took the class last year and thought it was a great use of two days. I learned some new skills, and some new variations on skills that I already had. If you've never taken a class like this, now is a great time to start!

    We will begin at 8 am each morning. Since we are using the indoor range, the course is rain or shine...
