Saiga Conversion - If I can do it, so can you.
Well I finally finished up my Saiga conversion from the stock sporter configuration to something a little more traditional w/ pistol grip. It was a lot easier then I thought it would be and I’m really pleased with the results. I currently have less than $400 (bought the Saiga back when they were a lot cheaper) into this rifle and think it’s hard to beat for the money. The most stressful part of the process for me was cutting the grip nut hole and that was painless once I actually started cutting. The only thing to be aware of is to make sure you keep the rifle 922r compliant which, isn’t too bad either.
I see a lot of “what AK” threads coming up, and for the money I think converting the Saiga is a very viable and cost effective option. I basically posted this to reassure others thinking about doing the conversion that it is in fact very doable. If I can pull it off, anyone can.
Here is a quick picture of the rifle now and I’ll post some higher quality pictures later.
Regards,
Mike
