Recoil reducing stock
Anybody have experience with the recoil reducing stock?
I'm looking at the Blackhawk Spec ops for my 500A.

Re: Recoil reducing stock
I have it on an 870 and it works great. It is worth mentioning though that with the tang safety on the Mossberg's if you switch to a pistol grip setup it is less than ideal to access it.

Re: Recoil reducing stock
Blackhawk has 3 recoil reducing stocks now. I have the SpecOps on my 500a - like it a lot!!
I would also give the newest one consideration:

Re: Recoil reducing stock
Is anyone using it for clay shooting? Although it is for a pump I can see a real advantage.

Re: Recoil reducing stock
I put a spec ops stock on my Mossberg 500 for firing slugs out the rifled barrel and it makes a world of difference. One thing to consider though is that when I put on the smooth bore, it is hard to get a good sight down the beads. By that I mean that I have to hold it differently so that my head is not too high. I've heard that getting ghost rings or something a little higher is recommended if you are using the spec ops stock. For looking through the my scope it works great though, you will notice a HUGE difference in how your shoulder feels!

Re: Recoil reducing stock
i have the spec ops for my remington 870 and i have not noticed anything different about the sight picture. i do recommend the power pack for it to add the shell carrier to it for an extra five rounds

Re: Recoil reducing stock
You can't lay over the shotgun like you would with a traditional stock with the Knoxx. It collapses on itself to absorb the recoil and will eat your face off.
You have to keep your face more rearward and this can change your sight picture because the farther back your face is, the more "heads up" you tend to be.
I did not have any issues adapting to this. But some people are less receptive to the slight change.
