Default Ruger SR9 Broken Loaded Chamber Indicator

Hello, went to the range today and fired about 50 rounds through my 5 month old SR9, in total have have shot about 400 rounds though it. Upon stripping and cleaning it tonight my to my surprise I found that part of the Loaded Chamber Indicator had broken off and was missing. This must have happened sometime during my time at the range, it also looks like it nicked the top part of the barrel in which the indicator rest when a round is not present. Would Ruger warranty this failure or should I have my local gun smith repair?
    Thanks

Give them a call, they should take care of it (free)...ask them for a shipping label too. I have heard they have excellent customer service!

What Bill said. But, if they won't cover shipping, check with your local gunsmith and see how much he charges. You might save money taking it to the smith if it's a quick fix... though I'd imagine you'd still be better off paying shipping if Ruger won't cover the shipping. I've never had to deal with Ruger's customer service department (Rugers are quality firearms, hence why I haven't), but I've also heard they're very good.

I had an issue with the recoil spring, rod on my sr9. Contacted them and told them over the phone my concern. They didn't want to know nothing. That didn't stop me. I sent them a photo of the concern I had. The same day they sent out a new recoil spring. Take photos and send them the photos to prove your case. They will then take care of the issue.
