Looking for a 9mm 1911
Please no "1911s are .45, doofus" posts.
I'm not really into revolvers, and I already have my evil black gun (a P229). I'm starting to glance around at my second purchase, and I think I'd like a 1911, for several reasons. They're absolutely gorgeous, and I'm kind of entranced the last few days looking at them.
I want to stick with 9mm, though. Cheaper target shooting, more rounds per magazine, etc. Maybe later on I'll look at a legitimate 1911, but right now I'm looking at something I'll be able to shoot regularly enough to actually enjoy, and I still see .45 at a few bucks more per box than 9, so.
I'm not sure what my budget is. Under $750 after tax would be nice.
Go!
(And thank you, in advance)

I see that their 'Spartan' model is in my price range. Looks pretty nice.

for a single stack I think your best bet will be either an STI trojan in 9mm, or a springfield loaded in 9mm but both come in around 1k.
Taurus might make a PT1911 in 9mm that i'd think would come in under your $700 mark, and if youre just looking for a plinker one of those may work out for you, though i'm not a fan of them myself.
Or get one of those and be totally fucking awesome

Re: Looking for a 9mm 1911
From your basic description it does sound like this is a fun gun, and not a serious combat weapon. You might want to consider some of the below list:
Star Model B
Llama Model XI and Micro Max (among others)
Auto Ordinance 1911
All are basic, sound designs but are sometimes panned by folks for different reasons. These models are presently out of production but pretty cheap on the second hand market. Try to search gunbroker or gunsamerica's for sale lists. Look up reviews whenever possible to know what you are getting.
Hope this helps...

Re: Looking for a 9mm 1911
You have some options.
1. Spend just a little bit more and get an STI.
2. Start loading your own ammo. It'll make the cost difference between 9mm and .45ACP negligible. Then you can get a 1911 in .45ACP. 9mm 1911s tend to be less than 100% reliable.
Taurus announced a 1911 in 9mm years ago. It has yet to happen.

Re: Looking for a 9mm 1911
Im not sure about if this is in your price range but I thought Para Ordinance made a very nice 9mm 1911. If I remember correctly if you got one that worked its one of the most reliable guns you'd own but some of the ones that didnt run well you never could seem to get running. Ive never had any 1st hand experience with them so I do not know. Just throwing it out there. I want a STI so bad its not even funny.
Reputation is what I strive for.
