I just got a flier that a new range is being built near Ransom but anti gunners want to shut it down.

I got this E-Mail from the NRA today:
Help Expand Recreational Shooting Opportunities in the Scranton-Area!

On Monday, April 5, at 7:00 p.m., the Ransom Township Board will allow the public to submit inquiries to a consortium which is seeking to expand a recreational shooting range in Ransom, just west of Scranton.

Ranges like this one offer a safe, controlled environment for local shooters to hone their skills as well as practice and promote safe firearm handling.

Anti-gun forces will surely mount an offensive to block this range from expanding. Please attend this meeting and voice your support for this range.

The meeting will be held at 23 Hickory Drive, Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
Unfortunately, I work 2nd shift on Mondays, so I won't be able to go. I just hope that enough people show up to support this range.

Wink Re: New Public Range in Danger of Close?

The address is corrected on today's NRA alert. The meeting will be held at 2435 Hickory Lane , Clarks Summit, PA 18411

I spoke to some people about this last week. From what I could learn, the man with the range is a heavy hitter, not a lightweight like I expected. Writes for gun magazines, industry connected, NRA Training Counselor for every cert they offer, grad of Blackwater and Front Sight. Already owns some hi end place.

    Maybe he will hire me!

I will try to attend the meeting as well.

The range has been in the news alot. Scranton Times, Abbington Journal, he Suburban.

The local antis formed a committee to oppose it and have been getting help from Joe Esposito who is the chair of the Board of Supervisors. He even went as far as asking the landfill to give money to support a legal challenge to the range. They declined, from what I hear. The law allows a range, but Esposito wants to change the law even thought he can't legally since that would be targeting an applicant and spot zoning.

Watch the NRA alerts for news. I am told this is a public and police range and will be professionally staffed by local people.

Also, we need to get Ransom gun owners involved and they need to speak up at meetings. The antis sure are and if gun owners lay back, they have themselves to blame.

Thumbs up Re: New Public Range in Danger of Close?

    Hey, guys.

I read in the South Abbington Journal that the range filed plans officially with Ranson.

    Here's the link: http://www.timesleader.com/AbingtonJ...rchterm=ransom

Anybody know what is in the plan?
