    Default 686 SSR?

Do you guys think trading 1980's polished 686 with 6" barrel, and polished Model 65(recessed, but not pinned), 4" heavy barrel, and original wood grip for brand new 686 SSR would be a good idea?

I doubt you would gain much if IDPA competition is your goal. The 686 would be slightly bigger and heavier, although the grips should be like the 65, which I assume you are shooting now.

The IDPA model i S&W custom shops answer to a question that the K frame already had answered in spades. I know the 66 and 19 aren't sold anymore, but if you must have rear adjustable sights one of these in 4" is about as good as it gets.

Admittedly I am prejudiced, as I shoot 19s and 66s in IDPA, but having seen what many top shooters use, the K frames are as good as it gets.
