almost drew my 9mm
i started out on a ten mile hike on the STS trail in potter co. had already seen two buck close, 20 to 30 feet away and they did not seem to care both just walked away and stopped and looked back at me
about seven miles into the hike coming up out of a run and around the trail cornor there it was sitting in the middle of the trail a big bear ! and it did not move, scared the crap out of me !
i put my hand on my pt-92 ready to draw (yes i carry that heavy thing at times, i wear my firemans suspenders to keep my pants from falling down LOL) and i backed up around the cornor and started banging my hiking stick on a tree and yelling
normaly bears run away when they see me, if they don't that can be a problem like the one with a cub that gave me a hard time a few years ago (that is why i am concerned while hiking by myself in the back woods)
i started back around the cornor and it was still there ?
slowly i approached closer and closer, well, the shadows were playing tricks on me, it was just an overturned tree stump that looked just like a bears body and head with a snowt and ears, LOL

You should've shot. A rogue stump like that might end up killing an innocent child, or a nun!

You know, you almost had me there and the suspense was killing me (softly), but that dead tree stump just ruined everything! Lol!

well I was gonna say maybe you should look for something a little bigger, maybe a 10mm if your coming across bears... but apparently you just need a good saw

Yet again.. another innocent tree stump almost meets its demise by one of these evil guns.
We really should ban them all!!
LOL, funny story!==============

those wimpy 9 mils just don;t have the knockdown power
Take for instance the Stihl MS-660 "Magnum"
Ought to make mincemeat out of that nasty Stump!

Re: almost drew my 9mm
I thought I had a bear sitting next to my driveway a couple of days ago (next to the trash can). I jumped back into the house rite quick grabbed the mag lite and 45. Went back out side only to realize that it was a wheelbarrow standing up leaning against the trash can. I almost shot a perfectly good wheelbarrow that night. It's amazing what your eyes think they see. Lesson in life. Turn on the light before pulling the trigger.

Night time and shadows can play some nasty tricks. My vaccum almost got shattered by a baseball bat few years ago...light it up, then shoot/swing!
