My first OC! (in Schuylkill Haven)

My wife and I were going to my sisters tonight and had to stop at Redners in Schuylkill Haven to pick up a few things. As I was getting dressed, I put on my OWB holster, and figured If she fussed about it I would throw my sweatshirt on to go into the store. She did say to me "You're not wearing that thing like that." I didn't really answer, figured I'd let it play out.

We got to the store and were there for about 15-20 minutes, and I think some people may have noticed, but no one said a word. When we got back in the car I pointed out to Mrs. Rock-it that there were no crying children, hysterical soccer moms, and the gun didn't jump out of the holster and shoot the place up. She said " I thought I noticed that you had it out when we were in the checkout line". Even she didn't really notice.

All in all, an uneventful time. I think the biggest part for me was just working up the nerve to actually do it. It was only 1 short trip into 1 store, but it's a start, right.

(I must point out that my wife is not anti, she has her own pistol, and shoots w/ me sometimes, but prior to this she was definitely anti-OC. She thinks I'm going to get cuffed and stuffed.)

Nicely done. This describes 99.9% of my OC experiences. The other 0.1% are encounters that are positive.

I have yet to have a negative encounter.

No one notices. Even when someone looked directly at my gun (or so I thought) I had to actually mention it to her, and she said, "What?" Then she looked again and said, "Oh! That." Didn't phase her one bit.

OCing isn't nearly as scary as I thought - the thing is, we grew up in a world where guns are evil, so we all think it's going to cause pandemonium.

Rock-It most people in Schuylkill are not very perseptive. I OC pretty much everywhere, and no one flips out and there are no yelling hordes calling the Police. Hell here in Tamaqua I have had the Local LEO's come upto me and shake my hand to tell me thank you for exercising your rights....
