    Default Forward assist

Anyone know of any other weapon or weapon system, besides the AR, that has a forward assist? Someone asked me recently and I couldn't come up with one.

Well they may not technically be a forward assist but...

Any firearm with a reciprocating charging handle doesn't need one, as the charging handle can be used as a forward assist to close the bolt.

That is the crux of the need for an assist. IMHO, every firearm will at some point need a little help closing the bolt. With a firearm charging handle that does not move with the bolt, extra help is needed.

That is every firearm except a H&K......

    I don't have to pretend... I built mine intentionally without a jam-assist

I was going to say this. Take a look at this youtube video.

See how he uses the op rod handle as a forward assist before beginning on his first mag.

Ten times the action, total hardcore.

If the bolt does not close there is a reason. Last thing one should do is "assist" the problem by jamming the bolt closed. If there is an obstruction, like a separated case, in the chamber forcing another round in could be, and has been for lots of folks, disastrous.

The solution is to cycle the action and see if the next round chambers. If not find/fix the problem.
