    Default Gun Owners of America.

I seem to have signed up for email alerts from a group called GOA or Gun Owners of America. They seem to be a group like the NRA only they are more active in the areas the NRA don't seem to want to bother with.

Does anyone else know anything about them?

    Default GOA - Thumbs up

Good group. Many years ago I felt the NRA was too much in the pocket of the Republicans so I joined GOA as an alternative. They focus specificaly on 2nd Amend issues and I think they did a good job during the Bush I and Clinton years. I am not sure how I would rank their effectiveness at this point but they did a good job back then. I would be interested in what others may have to say. I also liked CCRKBA very much as well.

This might be true. But the NRA is the one the gun grabbers are the most concerned about. And there's a reason for that.
I just joined the GOA recently. But the NRA is the lead dog of the pack

The more ideologically pure the group = the fewer members = the less powerful.

The less ideologically focused = the larger the umbrella group = gets things done (not always the things/way you want it though).

GOA is to NRA as LP is to GOP. The GOA/LP is satisyingly pure, yet largely irrelevant to the real world. The GOP/NRA is maddeningly inconsistent and not always dependable, but for all that, occasionally does get things done in the real world.

No harm in being a member of both.
