Thanks for the information on the sling.

I kinda did the same thing with paracord on my home defence AR with a 2 point sling my wire bought me for Christmas. My AR has a standard A2 front sight with the typical metal sling mount loop below it so the sling mounted twisted due to the way I ran it though the stock. I looked and saw Colt makes an A2 side mounted slightly swivel kit but for $75.00.

I'm way to cheap for that crap so I ran a length of paracord though some clear medical air tubing to keep the sling from bunching up and tied it off to the corner of the original useless swivel like a lot of guys do with AK's, and it works really well. I will have to post a picture of it up when I get the new sight for it.

I prefer iron sights and standard front post.
This rifle does it for me. 10.5 barrel. 30 round mag coupled to a 40 allows them to be offset up top but flush at the bottom.

Another very affordable mag coupler option is the Safariland unit that CDNN Sports still has in stock.
You can't find it if you click thru all their products and it doesn't come up if you type "coupler" in the search.
If you start typing "Safari", it pops up! (probably why they still have them a year later at that price - nobody knows they have them)

It's also an offset design with "flat" bottom so that when you switch "sides", the mag on the ejection port side is low enough to clear.
I haven't cut the rubber banded top covers off yet, but probably will.
