Handgun-only owner and I have a stupid question.

What's the difference between an AR-15 pistol and an AR-15 rifle?

When I start my build, I want to know what I've actually built!

Rifle = Shoulder stock with barrel larger than 16"
Pistol = no shoulder stock with barrel less than 16"

No legal restrictions on owning either of them.

But a Short barreled rifle (16" barrel with stock) is a NFA item.

Technically you can carry an AR pistol in your car loaded if you have a LTCF in pa.

That's a benefit, if technically the officer knows the law and doesn't say it's a loaded long gun.
