When you only have one of something it goes from new to used condition very quick. When you have more than 10 you are bound to have minty looking items.

Don't get me wrong; I'm not knocking the minty guns. But it would be great to see some war horses, well-used rifles with lots of character. Even people with 10 AR's probably have one that comes out most often for classes & practice. For me, the Colt is that gun; I hope to put lots of miles on it.

If I read between the line correctly you were pointing out that people have more than one ar but they don't shoot a lot.

I'll tell you normally I have no other shooting options but public ranges with their 3 shot rules. So my shooting habits are different, my rifle choice is different. Out of 13 ars I use often 4 or 5.

Also I can understand when you going through drills and your rifle gets dirty and there are pictures of it. What I don't get is when people dumping some dirt on their ar for a photo session. To me it's as silly as to spray dirt all over your off road vehicle so it's looks like bad ass ride.

I like my car to be spotless. I treat my sticks the same.

Who knows how much these guns are used? I realize that many of these AR's are photographed when they're new, and many guns go from the safe to a padded case to a bench and back, so they don't see much wear even though they might have thousands of rounds through them. But I would think that lots of people here practice for personal defense situations, take classes, and compete, not to mention people who use them on the job. I just think it would be nice to see some of those well-used guns too.

Just like the "Show us your carry gear" thread. Lots of pictures of pristine guns with as-new holsters. Does that mean they don't actually carry them? Who knows. But when you see a grungy, broken-in holster and a gun with plenty of holster wear, you say "now that's a well-loved and well-used gun."
