Kick-EEZ or Limbsaver Recoil Pads

Want to put a recoil pad on the shotgun that will allow me to shoot the shotgun for extended periods and not have my arm fall off. I have already decided that I don't want to drop the bucks on a Knox Stock, so don't recommend that. Of the recoil pads I investigated. These two got the best reviews. Wanted to know if any of you have used these and what your thoughts are on them. Thanks in advance.

I had a Kick-EEZ installed on a 682 for the same reason and I am very happy with it.

I have had a Kick eez on a 300 Mag for a few years now and highly reccomend it. it was reasonably priced and does a great job at reducing felt recoil. It's sorta like a gel or gummi-bear type of rubber and has held up well for me.

What do you mean by Prefit. I take it your advising against a slip on. Get one that you screw onto the end of the stock, right?

Yeah, both companies make prefit pads that screw into the rear and fit most factory stocks....otherwise you need to use a sander to fit them. I've fit a Kick-Ezz before by scribing a template of the stock and using an orbital sander (because I couldn't find one to fit a 870 Youth Model).....it wasn't very hard, but it's so much nicer to just screw one on.

Slip-ons are just kind of messy and I don't like anything getting near my cheekweld, but they get the job done.

I have installed quite a few Limbsavers on my own guns and and on others. They really do work but are quite a bit more time consuming to install on grind to fit installations than, say a Pachmyre, because they are so soft and the sanding belt pushes it more than grinds it. After I get the hard plate on the pad down to the stock scribe line, I tilt my table 2 degrees and work slowly back to the hard plate. This gives me a line more to the profile of the stock. I just put a grind to fit Kick Ezz on my new BT 99 and it is even more of a challenge to grind than a Limbsaver. When I got down to grinding down to the hard plate I put it in the freezer two times to get it hard enough to grind to a presentable profile to the stock. I really can't say that one absorbs more recoil than the other although Kick Ezz claims to be better. They are both better than anything else at reducing recoil. The down side of the Limbsaver and probably the Kick Ezz also, although my Kick Ezz is too new to know for sure, is that being so soft they show a lot of wear on guns that see a lot of use.

1iarrowking is right that both of those pads are soft. I sanded the top of mine to make it smoother so it didn't hang up when I mounted the gun.....yeah, they are that sticky. Don't get any gun solvents on them, either........


Wood stock or synthetic?....it matters. If it's synthetic, I'd recommend the R3 since you know it should fit......I replaced mine once and it was a perfect fit.....thus, my comment about solvents.......

I have the original wood stock on it still. I just sanded them down and stained them black. It is an experiment in creating a ZRT Gun for as little money as I can.

Who knows, I'll get bored and change the stock later. But for now, it is the original wood with the old recoil pad laying along side waiting to be replaced with a better one.

What is this stuff you're suppose to put on the rubber to make it slippery.
