Default Any smiths here do shotgun barrel shortening?

want to get my Saiga barrel chopped back, rethreaded for the muzzle brake, and have the brake tack welded in place to make a 18.5" barrel.

this will require cutting the barrel underlength until the brake is permanently reattached.

its possible that a die might work to do this, since its externally threaded.

any SE pa smiths able to do this for me?

I'm hoping not to have to ship it to a MFG out of state.

If you just provide the barrel, a machine shop could probably do it.

the Saiga 12 has a very difficult to remove barrel, its pressed in place, and pinned there, and, since its externally theaded, thus its much easier to thread if a die can be used.

the Saiga 12 is an "kalishnikov action" action shotgun

actually no, Tony Rumore did the PG conversion and handguard job.
I didn't want a SBS, sohe was able to squeeze me in the production line back in july.
I really should have had him lop the barrel and attach a brake back then, but oh well.

    digging up old threads today

if you havent had this done yet.......

why go through the trouble of threading the bbl if your going to weld the brake on??

imo, id cut the bbl back, square the end, and make the brake a slip fit over the end, with around .003" clearance. the atf conciders a high temp silver solder job to be "permantly affixed" so this would keep you at a legal length.
