Re: New guy from mechanicsburg
I called the local office of the game commission this morning and the person I spoke to said that the Rte. 944 range is open. He also told me that you do NOT have to have a hunting license to use either range.
The problem with the rifle range right now is that it's getting overly crowded due to hunters sighting in there rifles and whatnot. I'm guessing, that for now, the game wardens are trying to keep non-hunting firearms off the rifle range to give these hunters more space. At this time of year, I can truly understand that.

Re: New guy from mechanicsburg
Well I am not from Mechanicsburg but I am from Cumberland County. I grew up in Carlisle then moved to Shippensburg. Left for the Navy in 1992 and just finally managed to get myself back home. Now living in Newville and will be going into the courthouse in the next week or so to Apply for my Permit.
I have already gathered a great deal of info from the site (prior to registering) and hope to continue doing so.

I moved to Mechanicsburg about 2 years ago from the York area. I shoot at SGL 230 all the time. If I'm not there, I'll be at SGL 242.
