USPSA/IPSC New Shooter Training
Hello all,
Anyone know where I could get IPSC sanctioned new shooter training or info about such? I live in Hanover and found a place close to Thurmont, MD but range is closed indefinately due to a range fire. Really want to get started in the 2008 competition season. All help greatly appreciated.

Tomorrow (Sunday 9/9 - hammer down at 10:00a) at the Izzak Walton League in Dallastown, there's a match going on. I think the match is "sold out", but I'm sure you can hang out and get some info from the guys down there.
They have quite a bit of IPSC shooting there, as well as being the host of the Summer Blast.
It's probably about 20-25 minutes from you - if I remember correctly, you can scoot down through Jefferson, cut down the Sus-Q trail a bit to just above Shrewsbury, and then out Rt. 214 a bit to get to it fairly quickly.

I'm a member of YIWLA and USPSA/IPSC. Squeeky clean newbie. I have observed and been led through a fun shoot. I did commit a few safety related errors and a few proceedural errors which were explained politely. It was suggested that I get training over the off season to prep for qualifying in 2008. I've been told I'll get OJT from the in the Spring but suggestion stands. Having had a successful career as a corporate pilot, I value training. So I'm looking for an "Offical USPSA/IPSC New Shooter Training course". It's proving hard to find.

It is hard to find. And....the game isn't as simple as it looks.
Find an experienced shooting buddy and have them review rules and strategy with you. Then, ask for them to shoot a couple matches and choreograph your movement for you.
And of course, there is always here:

Yup! I'll keep looking and I guess it isn't simple till you learn. I'm not looking to "win", I just want to improve my skills, meet new friends and have fun.
I'm so new, I dont have a bud yet.
I'll take a look at this.
