My student's essay topic!

One of my 8th grade student's essay topic for my communications class is
"What is the best long range deer rifle for Pennsylvania?".

They are supposed to pick a topic that they know nothing or little about and research to try and find an answer. I'll let you know where the facts lead him.

If you have suggestions for him I'll print out this thread in a week or so and let him use it as part of his research.

Absolutely not....

In fact, PROUD to say - our public high school has a shooting team! We have about 30 kids who regularly go to the local gun club where they store our school (club) firearms to shoot trap and rifle target.

Why, I even let my students draw pictures of their favorite guns without turning them in!

thats funny..but not.
my niece (10) wanted to write a story about her dad and me shooting guns up at the mountain house, the teacher advised my sister not to let her write it, she may get in trouble and the teacher may also get some kind of slack for it.
my sister is a big friggin liberal, so she didnt have her write it

Having watched some of the locals have a rough time hitting a paper plate at 25 yards with a scoped 30-30, maybe he can mention shooter ability and ethical shots on furry creatures at extended ranges.

Sure, I can hit a deer at 1000 yards, but it doesn't mean I should try.
